Brenda Strong will star as Bobby Ewing’s wife, Ann Ewing, in the highly anticipated TNT remake of the CBS classic drama series “Dallas” set to air summer 2012. The new series will center on J.R.'s (Larry Hagman) son John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe), Bobby's adopted son. Reprising their original roles are Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray. Strong is currently learning to shoot and ride horseback in preparation for the role. “Dallas” begins shooting in Texas in October. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has recognized her work as Mary-Alice Young, the departed narrator of ABC’s award-winning smash hit “Desperate Housewives” by nominating her for a 2011 Emmy Award. While Strong’s seemingly-perfect character committed suicide in the premiere episode, she has been an integral part of the series starring in flashback scenes and episodes throughout the show’s eight seasons. Her weekly voiceovers provide viewers with insightful commentary from beyond the grave. Previously, Strong was perhaps most recognizable to television audiences for her role as Sue Ellen Mishkie (a.k.a. “The Braless Wonder”) on the award-winning series “Seinfeld.” Other television credits include roles on acclaimed series such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Nip/Tuck,” “Everwood,” “Sports Night,” “7th Heaven,” “Party of Five,” “CSI,” “Ally McBeal,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “ER.” In 2010, Strong also starred in the telefilm “Family in Hiding” (Lifetime). On the film side, Strong has starred in the feature films “The Kid and I” with Tom Arnold and “The Work and the Glory 2 & 3” including independent films “Oceans of Pearls,” “A Plumm Summer” and “You.” Previous film credits include “Starship Troopers,” “The Deep End of the Ocean,” “The Craft” and “Spaceballs.” In 2010, Strong was seen in the critically acclaimed “Titus Redux” at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. The drama was also selected by Center Theatre Group for the prestigious Under the Radar Festival. A native of Portland, Oregon, Strong attended Arizona State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theater. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting and quickly began landing roles in both television and film. Strong is a certified yoga instructor and produces and stars in a line of videos designed to help infertile couples through yoga therapy, called Strong Yoga4Fertility. Additionally, she has taught at The Mind Body Institute at UCLA & Newport Beach. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Yo San University for her work in the field of Women's Wellness and is the national spokesperson for The American Fertility Association. She lives in Los Angeles with her son.
